The dinky keyboard pattern in the intro is a little disconcerting– you could be forgiven for thinking that a novelty tune might just ensue. Thankfully though, once Chuck Jackson starts singing all the cringe is swept aside.

His voice swings between the loose gravel of Otis Redding, and the pitch perfect, soaring vibrato of Nat King Cole. Yes, it's just another simple ballad, but Jackson's voice goes to show that it doesn't matter how simple or complex, if you've got that special somethin in your timbre then you'll sweep them away every time.
