Out steps the man who would go on to be universally known as the 'godfather of soul' with his first solo release – 'Night Train'.
The tune was originally recorded by Jimmy Forrest in 1951, but James Brown's version takes it to a new and far more frenetic level. As with much of James' material, you can't really understand a lot of what he's saying on this track. But what you can feel is the man's unrelenting energy that leaves you picturing him bouncing around the studio like a pinball with the devil in it's soul.
