Written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, this little beauty will be instantly recognisable to anyone who has ever endured the high-culture of a school disco. The song has a drive to it that transforms average Joes into Danny Zukos.

Many attribute the track to Kylie Minogue, who took it to #3 on the U.S charts in the late 1980s. But Grand Funk Railroad's 1974 version, along with the subject of this review—the original by Little Eva—had previously topped those same charts.

Little Eva's definitive version of a much covered song

Little Eva manufactures an intangible brightness with "the Loco-motion"; and a compelling pureness that, despite how infectious they might have been, subsequent covers lacked.
