We land somewhere between The Pink Panther, Leonard Cohen, jazz and wife seduction; and somehow The Great Serge manages to tie it all together effortlessly.
He enunciates and somehow projects the image of a suited man sliding and swooning drunkenly around the room. Its completely possible that I am the only one taking that image away from this track.
Gainsbourg is totally aware of his ability for crafting a smoke drenched and aloof sounding tune that still has the power to capture the ear of a man who has no clue what he is singing about.
