October 1st, 1965 - The Byrds released "Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is A Season)" as the first single and title track from their upcoming album. The song was first released by folk group The Limeliters, however, it was written by folksinger Pete Seeger in the late 1950's. In writing the song, Seeger lifted the majority of the lyrics directly from the Book of Ecclesiastes. Due to the fact that Seeger only wrote the line "Turn, Turn, Turn", he donates nearly half the royalties of the song.

New single from The Byrds Roger McGuinn circa 1965

"Turn! Turn! Turn!" was The Byrds third single released in 1965, following the success of their earlier singles "Mr. Tambourine Man" and "All I Really Want To Do" -- both of which were Bob Dylan covers.
