Swimming tones of the Caribbean, mixed with a lover's heavy-hearted lyrical adieu– this strikes me as an odd combination.

It's a sweet song, but the lightness of the instrumentation does serves to undermine the lyrical sentiment somewhat. A push and pull effect ensues. You can hear it in the tentative, unsure sounding vocal delivery. Especially true considering the powerful vocal performances The Supremes would go on to deliver in the later '60′s.

There's melody enough to draw you into this one, but the lyric would have been much better suited to a more soulful feel and arrangement.
