August 24th, 1969: For the past three years, Bob Dylan has been living in seclusion in Woodstock with his young family. Aside from a couple of live performances backed by The Band, Dylan has been out of the public eye for much of this time.
So last week, when half a million hippies turned up to Woodstock hoping to drag Dylan out of hiding, he snuck out of town and boarded the QE2 bound from New York to England. Dylan is booked to perform instead at the far smaller Isle Of Wight festival on August 29th.

Dylan's young son Jesse had an accident as they boarded the boat, so Dylan and family took a last-minute flight to reach the UK.
The word is, Dylan arrived on the Isle Of Wight today. He has been spending time with George and Pattie Harrison at a farmhouse on the island. George Harrison and The Beatles finished recording their latest album Abbey Road this week in London.
Dylan will be spending the week rehearsing for the festival with The Band at Forelands Farm in Bembridge.
Listen below to Dylan's latest single, "Lay Lady Lay."
