"Earth" change their name to Black Sabbath and release some demos: Listen

The newly named Black Sabbath have started planning to record their debut album. Listen to four recent demo recordings here

August 26th, 1969: British band Earth have renamed themselves Black Sabbath and started plans for their debut album.

The band comprised of Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, Geezer Butler and Ozzy Osbourne reportedly came up with the new name when the movie cinema across the road from their recording studio was showing the horror film Black Sabbath.

Tony Iommi has only recently rejoined the band after a short stint with rock band Jethro Tull.

On August 30th the band will perform their first live show under the name Black Sabbath in Workington, England.
