New Barry McGuire album featuring The Mamas & The Papas

Winter, 1965 - Barry McGuire released his second album for 1965, This Precious Time. The album was released on the Dunhill record label only months after McGuire's previous LP, Eve Of Destruction.

This Precious Time featured The Mama's & The Papas on backing vocals, which was essentially their audition to record with producer Lou Adler.

During the sessions McGuire recorded "California Dreamin'", which The Mamas & The Papas also released shortly after on December 8th, 1965. Both versions used the very same instrumental track, with alternate lead vocals.

Listen below to "California Dreamin'" and McGuire's cover of Bob Dylan's "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues."
