The Beatles record "Yesterday" at EMI Studios, London

June 14th, 1965 - The Beatles recorded "Yesterday" at the EMI Studios in London. Although credited as McCartney/Lennon, Paul McCartney says it was composed in a dream he had one night. The song immediately sounded so familiar to McCartney that he thought he had plagiarised it, later saying, "For about a month I went 'round to people in the music business and asked them whether they had ever heard it before. Eventually it became like handing something in to the police. I thought if no one claimed it after a few weeks then I could have it."

"Yesterday" was released on The Beatles' August 1965 album, Help!
