'The Greatest Pop Show On Earth'

On April 16th 1965, New Musical Express (NME) put on a reader voted concert at Wembley's Empire Pool in London. Along with headlining act The Kinks, the 3.5 hour show included performances by The Beatles, The Animals, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, Them, Donovan, The Rolling Stones & The Seekers.

The concert was described by NME writer Alan Smith as "...a big, brash, belting show, loaded with names and loaded with talent. Truly, the biggest array of pop stars ever assembled on one great day."
