The voices of Carter and Charles perfectly balance out on this track and bring light to the call and response method which can often feel stiff and uninspired. Ray Charles is really at his best when his vocal is given space to move out ahead of soft toned instrumentation, like on 'Baby It's Cold Outside'. Yeah the lyric is pretty middling at times, but the delivery makes it all feel genuine and helps this one rise above most of the Christmas season drivel.
