According to Gaudio, he was dozing off while watching a Ronald Regan film when he heard the now famous line "big girls don't cry." Gaudio wrote the line on a scrap of paper, fell asleep, and wrote the song the next morning, and luckily for The Four Season's they got to record it.

'Big girls don't cry' was one of the songs that reiterated to us the talent of The Four Seasons and went on to become their second number one hit, helping them on their rise to stardom. We are immediately hit with the falsetto voice of Frankie Valli ,and his multi-octave insouciant tones continue on throughout the track making it almost impossible not to enjoy. Furthermore, the jaunty culmination of instruments give us something to get our teeth into and leave the song feeling as though it has a bit more depth to it.

'Big girls don't cry' tells the tale of youthful romance gone awry– 'then she said to my surprise "Big girls don't cry"… "Shame on you, you told me lies?" Big girls do cry."While they may not be the most ground breaking lyrics of all time, that's not important with the vivacious, catchy melody keeping us entertained until the end.
